Priam:1. (Gr. myth.) i.e. the old king of Troy. At the cap-ture of the city by the Greeks,he was slain by Pyr-rhus,son of Achilles,the Greek hero.普賴姆,特洛伊的年老國王,城被希臘人攻破后,他被希臘英雄阿喀琉斯的兒子皮洛斯所殺。 △Ham.2.2.478 (447):“when he speaks ofPriam’s slaughter.”當(dāng)他講起普賴姆的被殺。 △2H.IV.1.1.72: “Drew Priam’s curtain in the dead of night,/ And would have told him half his Troy was burnt.”拉開普賴姆的床帳,想要告訴他半個(gè)特洛伊城已經(jīng)燒掉。 2. i.e. king of Troy whose fifty sons were killed inthe war with the Greeks普賴姆,特洛伊王,他有五十個(gè)兒子,都死于與希臘人的戰(zhàn)爭之中。 △3H.VI. 2. 5. 118: “Andso obsequious will thy father be,/ E’en for the loss ofthee,having no more,/As Priam was for all his val-iant sons.”正是為了你、我這獨(dú)生子的死,你的父親要認(rèn)認(rèn)真真舉辦喪禮,就像普賴姆為他所有的英勇兒子舉辦喪禮那樣。 |
