(1) 一切事物，每件事，事事，凡事(every thing;all things)：～in the room 屋子里的所有東西; be careful in～事事小心; have nothing to lose but～to gain 有百利而無一害; I'll do～I can to help you. 我將盡一切可能幫助你。E～was in a mess/destroyed. 所有的東西都亂七八糟的/都被毀掉了。I'll tell you～when I come back. 等我回來后把一切都告訴你。Have you～you want? 你想要的東西都得到了嗎? Is～all right with you? 你一切都好嗎?
(2) 最重要的事情; 一切 (the most important thing)：before～比一切都重要;Money is his/isn't～. 錢對于他重于一切/金錢不是萬能的。Her children are/mean～to her. 孩子就是她的一切。
【注意】當everything 作代詞時為一個詞，如：Everything goes well with me. (我的一切都好。) 而如果強調的是thing 時則為兩個詞，如：every thing in the universe(宇宙中的每樣事物)。
