| 釋義 | unless/ ?n′les/ conj 如果不(多用于否定句)，除非……(否則就不)，除非(有下列情況)(except under the circumstances that;except on the condition that)：Come at 8 o'clock/Don't come～I(xiàn) telephone. 除非我打電話(另行通知)，否則請(qǐng)8點(diǎn)到/不要來。I don't think I will write any preface～you are particularly anxious for one. 如果你不是極其需要一個(gè)前言的話，我想我是不會(huì)寫的。U～I(xiàn)'m mistaken， I've seen that man before. 如果沒搞錯(cuò)的話，以前我就見過那個(gè)人。White would never do this～compelled. 除非迫不得已，否則懷特是不會(huì)這樣做的。U～compelled to stay in by bad weather， I go for a walk every day. 我每天都去散步，除非天氣不好被迫待在家。After April 28th，～redeemed，it'll be for sale. 如若4月28日之前不贖回，東西將被拍賣。 【注意】1)unless和if...not經(jīng)常通用。但unless不能用于描述未發(fā)生事情的條件句中，如：We would have had a lovely holiday if it hadn't rained(*unless it had rained) every day. (如果不是天天下雨的話，我們會(huì)度過一個(gè)美好的假日。)I'll be sorry if she doesn't come(*unless she comes) to the party. (如果她不來參加晚會(huì)，我會(huì)感到遺憾。) 2)unless常用來表示一種說明性的想法，即對(duì)句中主要內(nèi)容的一種補(bǔ)充(此時(shí)不用if...not這個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu))。如：She hasn't got hobbies—unless you call watching TV a hobby. (她沒有什么愛好，除非你把看電視也叫作一種愛好。)Have a cup of tea — unless you'd prefer a cold drink. (請(qǐng)喝茶——如果你不是更喜歡冷飲的話。) |
