3. painful feeling悲痛，痛苦。

2. force,constrain,press 強(qiáng)迫，強(qiáng)逼，逼迫。
△Rom. 4.1.47: “It strains me past the compass of my wits.” i. e. Icannot think of a solution to the problem.這件事逼得我費(fèi)盡心思，也想不出辦法。
3. force out 勉強(qiáng)擠出。
△Rom.3.5.27:“It is the larkthat sings so out of tune,/Straining harsh discordsand unpleasing sharps.”云雀唱得走了調(diào)，費(fèi)力擠出這樣生硬的噪音和刺耳的尖聲。
4. apply with desperation 拼命使用。
△Ado.4.1.254(252): “For to strange sores strangely they strain thecure.” i. e. strange diseases require strange and des-perate cures. 不尋常的病癥只有痛下不尋常的藥劑才能治好。5. transgress,disregard 違背，不顧。
△ Rom.2.4.55(49): “my business was great,and in such a case as mine a man may strain courtesy.”i.e.a man maytransgress good manners,or be unceremonious. 我當(dāng)時(shí)有很要緊的事，在那種情形下，一個(gè)人只好失禮。
6. force the sense of,enlarge the meaning of 曲解，夸大。

7. embrace 擁抱。
