1. hear (one) confess and forgive as a priest（像神父那樣）聽…懺悔。
△Com.2.2. 212 (208): “shrive you of athousand idle pranks.”i.e. hear you confess and for-give you for many foolish mischiefs. 聽你懺悔你的一大堆惡作劇。
△Mer.1.2.142 (130):“I had rather he shouldshrive me than wive me.”我倒愿他做神父，聽我的懺悔，而不愿他做我的丈夫。
2. hear the confession of,i.e.examine closely聽取…的懺悔，（轉(zhuǎn)義）盤問。
