Barbary:i.e.the Barbary coast in the northwest partof Africa,which was once the centre of the sugartrade,and also famous for horse-breeding巴巴里，（指）非洲西北部的巴巴里海岸.過去為糖業(yè)貿(mào)易中心并以養(yǎng)馬著稱。

Barbary cock-pigeon: a fancy variety of pigeon origi-nally introduced from Barbary (North Africa),whichwas believed to be extremely jealous，“the Othelloamong pigeons.”巴巴里雄鴿，一種珍奇鴿種，原產(chǎn)于巴巴里（北非），據(jù)說其雄鴿性子特別妒忌，有“鴿中奧賽羅”之稱。

Barbary hen:
1.i.e.guinea hen whose feathers are easily ruffled巴巴里母雞，（指）雌珍珠雞。
